Letter from the President
Greetings My Fellow Phi Theta Kappa Members and Future Members!
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to everyone, my name is
Daniel Hall and I am your newly elected Chapter President of the Alpha Nu Zeta Chapter of
Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. I am deeply grateful and honored that everyone
has put their trust in me to oversee and help lead our Chapter. Our Chapter had a very successful
and rewarding year last year and I have great hopes for our chapter to not only repeat but to build
upon those accomplishments. However, I cannot hope to make those goals a reality without the help
and support of other officers and all of the other members.
Our Alpha Nu Zeta Chapter had wonderful success last year; achieving 5 Star Chapter level, winning 13
awards at our Regional Convention, our former Chapter President, Georgetta Howard was elected to
Regional Vice President of Leadership, and our advisor Dr. Bill Loftus won the Distinguished Advisor
award at our International Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
Some of the events we have participated in this year include: Face painting at the Easter Egg Hunt
on the Prestonsburg Campus, we helped host Honors Night, we have done several fundraising events at
the Pikeville Expo Center, attended the Regional Convention in Lexington Kentucky, attended the
International Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, held two Honor Study Topic Seminars, and participated
in the Relay For Life. While these activities have kept us all very busy, they have all been fun
to be a part of and I know that together we will continue to have just as much fun the rest of the year.
Some of the upcoming events we have planned are: co-hosting the Regional Leadership/Honors Conference
in Richmond Kentucky, fundraising throughout the summer and into the fall, continuing to carry on the
great tradition of Circle of Love for needy children, and in April 08, we will be leaving for the
International Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is only a portion of the events that
we are planning for the coming year and I hope everyone will make the most of being a member of Phi T
heta Kappa and step up to the plate and participate, helping to make all our endeavors a success.
At this time I would like to invite every member and up coming member to join in on a wonderful
opportunity to enhance many aspects of your life. Growing from the four Hallmarks which Phi
Theta Kappa is based on... Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship will make a difference
in your life and your community.
I look forward to working with each and every one of you in the coming year.
Thank you,
Daniel Hall
