Narrative:

Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) defines and publishes general education requirements for its undergraduate programs and major requirements for all its programs through its online catalog [1], its published catalog, and in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) catalog [2]. These publications contain information concerning the requirements to obtain a credential (certificate, diploma, degree). The general education program is discussed more thoroughly in Core Requirement 2.7.3.

The general education requirements are defined through Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 164.583[3] and Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education's transfer framework [4]. BSCTC's curriculum meets these guidelines. Associate in Science and Associate in Arts degrees are required to complete a minimum of 60 credit hours. Associate in Applied Science degrees require a minimum of 15 credit hours in general education requirements.

Faculty plays an integral part in all curriculum issues at both the local and state levels [5] [6]. Participation on curriculum committees is highly encouraged by the College. BSCTC programs and courses have been approved by BSCTC Curriculum Committee [7] as well as reviewed by KCTCS Curriculum Review Committee [8] and KCTCS Council [9] and, if applicable, reviewed by the appropriate state licensure commission and/or a national accrediting body [10].
