Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) "provides access to educational, cultural, and social opportunities
for residents of the Big Sandy Region" as stated in its mission statement

BSCTC provides a variety of student support programs, services, and activities that effectively meet the needs of the
entire student body. Student support programs and services include recruitment of potential students, campus tours,
admissions, orientation for new students, placement assessments, advising and counseling, financial aid, financial aid
advising, evaluation of transcripts, and registration. Additional support is available for all students through

BSCTC Job Fair is an event designed to bring employers on campus to assist students with employment applications,
employment interviews and job readiness

Students have the opportunity to participate in cultural diversity activities, student clubs and organizations, student

High school students from the BSCTC service area benefit from student learning opportunities through the Collegiate Beginnings

and a wide variety of previously mentioned activities and presentations. High school students may also access our website to
apply for admissions, request information, schedule a campus tour, review academic program offerings, Financial Aid and
Scholarships, and Library Services.
Enhanced access to educational opportunities is provided through the availability of On-Line Registration and Distance Learning
Classes [22].
Additionally, BSCTC's Online Account Access gives students the ability to view their class schedules, view/print grades,
register for classes, pay tuition and view financial aid and
Business Office account information [23].
This structure supports communication with faculty and staff. Additionally, the structure allows for students to be contacted
should the offices of Financial Aid, Business, or Admissions and Records need information to complete financial aid files,
arrange payment plans or complete admissions files.
Student support programs, services, and activities are assessed by the use of evaluations with assistance from the
Institutional Effectiveness Office. Examples include registration process, Center for Enrichment Resources assistance and
usage, Orientation, Student Activities, Technology Center, Wellness Center, Registration surveys and Exit surveys. According
to the 2007 Registration Survey, 84% of students felt that the registration process was organized and efficient; 88% felt that
college employees were courteous and helpful; 87% of students had a positive experience with the registration process; 85%
were satisfied with the admissions process; 73% were satisfied with their academic advisor; 70% were satisfied with On-line
registration; 65% were satisfied with counseling; 69% were satisfied with the Financial Aid Office; 82% were satisfied with
the Business Office and 71% were satisfied with the
bookstore [24].
