The Cosmetology Program prepares students for employment as a salon stylist. Students gain skills in hairstyling, haircutting, shampooing, chemical texture services, skin and nail care and as a salon manager. The Cosmetology Program is conducted as a joint effort of Big Sandy Community and Technical College and the Kentucky State Board of Cosmetology and Hairdressers.
Most of these workers are employed in beauty salons or barber shops, but they also are found in nail salons, day and resort spas, and nursing and other residential care homes.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the national median annual wage for occupations in this area of study is $22,760. Find Out More
